JULY NEWSLETTER

Dear #SubscriberFirstName# #SubscriberLastName#,

Vote for Nechells Baths in the National Lottery Awards!

Nechells Baths is in the running for a National Lottery Award for Best Heritage Project. Acknowledged as one of the country?s most successful inner city regeneration projects, Nechells Baths is a magnificent Grade II listed Edwardian building, completed in 1910 which formed part of a general provision of public baths and wash-houses across Birmingham.

Nechells Baths.

This city treasure closed in 1995 and fell into major disrepair. Following a £5.5 million refurbishment, which included funding from AWM (via ebns) this former public liability was restored to its former glory, not as a swimming baths, but as a much needed community facility. The refurbished building provides crèche and nursery facilities, training facilities, a training kitchen, café, internet café, heritage training workshops, as well as office accommodation for several local not for profit community organisations.

The first round of public voting in the National Lottery Awards closes on Friday 4th July. To vote for Nechells Baths click on this link.

Train & Sustain: The Toolkit for Sustainable Communities

Train & Sustain is a flexible resource being developed and piloted by the Academy for Sustainable Communities that aims to provide a good basic understanding of the agenda for sustainable communities. ebns has partnered with RegenWM and the Birmingham Neighbourhood Academy to participate in the pilot.

To introduce this exciting new toolkit ebns and partners are holding a series of free ?half day? interactive workshops designed to allow participants to share and expand their knowledge and experiences. The workshops also provide time for those attending to explore how they and key partners can make real changes in their community or neighbourhood. The first workshop held on Friday 23rd May was well received and this is some of the feedback:

?Very enjoyable and invaluable?

?Good to hear the different views on sustainability and ideas for future direction?

?Excellent presentation delivered with good humour?
